About Richard

Richard has been competing in a variety of sports at a high level throughout his life. His personal goal is to continue to compete until at least the age of 75

A school boy county runner and rugby player he went onto serve in the 

Royal Marine Commando’s where he excelled at the physical aspects of soldiering, took on new challenges and became a competitive Cross Country Skier. 

More senior rugby followed winning the Navy Cup with 45 Commando and then as a civilian playing for his local club Vale of Lune in the National Division 4 and winning the prestigious Lancashire Cup twice.

After retirement from rugby, he took up endurance sport again competing firstly at Olympic Distance Triathlon and progressing to Ironman Triathlon qualifying and racing at the Ironman World Championships Hawai, on numerous occasions.

Running however, was always Richard’s first passion, and big city Marathons including London, Berlin and New York bring back happy memories, Richard also excelled in the Lakeland 50.

The last few years has seen Richard take up the world acclaimed ‘Hyrox’ – a test of Strength & Endurance and has achieved great personal success in the Men’s Pro-Division 55-59 age group with top 3 podium place finishes. 

Such varied experience gives Richard a huge advantage when training clients. His first hand experience, combined with his academic qualifications and extensive study ensures he is able to prescribe what type of fitness will work best for each individual. 

Richard has been married to his wife Sarah for nearly 40 years, hew has two grown up daughters, Hayley and Charlotte and four lively grandsons Arthur, Alfie, Albert and baby Teddy.
